Hip, happening Surfgear
Anthony Wilson’s Stormriders is the latest addition to the Kempsey Central scene – a hip and happening shop plugged into skate and youth culture.
The shop stocks a wide range of shoes, skateboards, clothes and accessories, so you can check out some top threads, cool shades, gnarly decks and fun footwear and have a chat to Store Manager Kiera Martelli or one of her helpful assistants while listening to some top tunes.
Shop owner Anthony Wilson is a keen surfer, born and bred on the Mid North Coast. He became involved in the local retail scene through his involvement with his sport and his Stormriders chain now sits alongside his original Saltwater Wine surf shops. “A friend and I used to run a board riders club, our local shop sponsored the club and 18 months later I was a part owner of that same shop,” Anthony said. “I still surf every morning, conditions permitting!”
Away from business he likes to spend his time with his wife and daughters, the eldest of whom is just nine years old and up to tackling small waves on a soft board. Anthony says the Mid North Coast also has some impressive skating facilities, with the new Port Macquarie skate park considered to be one of the best in Australia. He said the response to Kempsey Central Stormriders had been really positive. “We had always thought Kempsey was a great town and a natural fit for Stormriders,” he said. “We’ve brought a number of new brands to town including Hurley, Afends and Vans.” “We are always trying to bring the latest and freshest brands and products to life in our shops.”
