Over 130 years serving
Greg was one of the first tenants to move into Kempsey Central after the shopping centre was built 6 years ago. But the owner of the Amcal Max Pharmacy says many locals are still surprised to find he opens on Sundays & public holidays, not realising the centre has 7 days a week trading.
Greg says Kempsey is an extremely friendly and surprisingly busy town & his travels overseas have made him appreciate it even more. “Everyone needs to get out and see a bit of the world – you don’t appreciate how good Kempsey is until you decide to come back to it,” he said. Greg bought the local pharmacy from Jim Harriott in 2006 and moved the shop to Kempsey Central in 2009, but the business has been trading as a chemist shop in Belgrave St. since 1876. “Families have been coming to this shop for generations – some of the same families for more than 130 years.”
The Amcal Max Pharmacy offers a good selection of health & personal care products, including a wide range of vitamins; weight loss products, the high-end Clarins range of beauty products & popular perfumes. Its Max status ensures it has larger ranges and offers better deals than many other pharmacy outlets. Customers, including nursing homes and hospitals, appreciate the pharmacy’s Webster pack service, free in-town prescription delivery service and seven days a week prescription dispensary. The pharmacy has a Beauty Room with a qualified beauty therapist, who offers, facials, massages, waxing, tinting and other beauty treatments three days each week.
Away from work, Greg is involved with local clubs including Kempsey Cannonball Rugby Club; Macleay Valley Rangers Soccer Club and Macleay Valley Mustangs Rugby League Club.
He also likes golfing, downhill skiing and travelling with his family. The Kempsey Amcal Max Pharmacy at Kempsey Central is open seven days a week.
